New Warming Centre in Lincoln
With the work of the LSD of Lincoln and cooperation of the Oromocto Fire Chief, Red Cross, Regional Emergency Management Office, and the Lincoln Baptist Church, we now have a Warming Center In Lincoln. The warming center is located at the Lincoln Baptist Church on Lincoln Road. The warming center will be activated (normally) 72 hours after the emergency but can be opened earlier depending on the needs of our community. A natural gas generator will be used to feed the church power for emergency services. The warming center will be used to have access to and use of washrooms, plugs to charge cell homes, and a room(s) when needed for residents to get warm, get information, possible water distribution (if needed), coffee etc. Times of warming center to be opened would normally be from 8am to 8pm and a sign out front of the church would give out information when needed. The contact numbers during an emergency for information and/or when the warming centers are open in Lincoln, Oromocto and Fredericton is the Emergency Management Office at 1-800-561-4034 or 453-5511.
“Remember,by taking an active role in your community, you are helping to build a culture of preparedness in Canada. While governments at all levels are working hard to keep Canada safe, everyone has a role to play in being prepared for an emergency – be ready to look after you and your family for the first 72 hours.”
